On the evening of February 28th, 2019 – representatives from Veterans Rebuilding Life attended the first community forum held in New York City developed for Veterans and their family members in the LGBTQIA communities. The veterans initiative took place in the West Village of Manhattan, where it was hosted by The Center. Attending veteran service organizations included the NYPD’s Community Outreach Division, and SAGE vets, who co-hosted the program with Benjamin P. Pomerance, Deputy Director for Program Development for the New York State Division of Veterans’ Affairs. Mr. Pomerance traveled from the DVA’s headquarters in Albany to attend Thursday night’s program.
The program’s objective is to provide a network platform for veterans who identify as LGBTQIA, to learn about what new benefits, services, and resources are available to them at the municipal, state and federal levels. The event took place in Manhattan’s West Village, where it was hosted by The Center – New York City’s established Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community organization, whose mission focuses on empowering individuals to lead healthy, and successful lives.
