PANDEMIC RESPONSE
FRONTLINE OF THE EPICENTER
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Veterans Rebuilding Life redirected its mission to support frontline workers risking their lives in the global pandemic’s epicenter: Queens, New York City. During the first, and deadliest year of the pandemic, the borough endured an extraordinary loss of life, with more than 20,000 confirmed COVID-19 deaths.

Veterans Rebuilding Life stood alongside the frontline workers risking their lives in service to our shared community. VRL partnered with 3D Brooklyn, a locally owned, small business specializing in 3D printing technology. Using the design specifications provided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 3D Brooklyn developed and manufactured thousands of non-disposable, medical-grade face shields.

VRL volunteers worked in 24 hour shifts in order to transport the medical face shields, and deliver them directly to frontline of the epicenter. Thanks to the life-saving support provided by 3D Brooklyn, Veterans Rebuilding Life was able to supply PPE to more than 1,200 essential personnel serving at the locations and units listed below.
