CRISIS RESPONSE

Veterans Rebuilding Life mobilizes trained volunteers to deliver direct aid and support to communities impacted by humanitarian emergencies. Through community collaboration, we help families meet urgent needs to recover and rebuild their lives at home, and around the world.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT

2026 MISSION COLLABORATION

In partnership with the American nonprofit Gift of Disability Alleviation (GODA) and with support provided by the American Heart Association, Veterans Rebuilding Life launched the first: Basic Life Support training program in Gaza. The AHA-accredited program equips healthcare professionals with life-saving skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) procedures when responding to cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants.

The first ever BLS training program successfully launched at Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza. Veterans Rebuilding Life provided the hospital staff with certified training in Basic Life Support including CPR and AED emergency procedures for adults, children and infants. The program is accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Before deploying to Gaza, VRL volunteers are required to complete Basic Life Support (BLS) training certified by the American Heart Association, equipping them to support healthcare teams working under extraordinary conditions. Upon arrival, VRL volunteers began training groups of healthcare professionals at Al Shifa Medical Complex. The hospital has sustained repeated attacks, leaving less than half of the facility operational and placing immense strain on medical staff who continue to provide lifesaving care to injured civilians each day.

All training participants successfully passed the required written examination and practical skills evaluation. Participants achieved an average score of 96% exceeding the 84% passing requirement established by the American Heart Association. A total of 34 healthcare professionals received AHA accredited BLS certifications strengthening the hospital’s capacity to respond effectively to life-threatening emergencies in one of the most dangerous environments in the world.

In response to the the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Veterans Rebuilding Life collaborated with American nonprofit organization: Bloom to provide direct food-aid, clean drinking water, and urgent medical care to malnourished children surviving in displacement camps across Gaza.

2026 Gaza Mission for Children

The displacement camps are over-populated, with makeshift tents sheltering thousands of children with nowhere to go. Humanitarian medical agencies have documented widespread child malnutrition, reporting cases of acute malnourished children under five years of age. More than 74,000 children have been reported by international humanitarian organizations as suffering from acute malnutrition.

Widely known as Orphan Cities, the children’s camp supply of food, clean drinking water, and medical supplies, are donated by international humanitarian organizations. The donated supplies are distributed by volunteers who risk their lives each day to keep the children’s camps operational. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, (OCHA) confirms more than 650 humanitarian workers have been killed by military actions in Gaza, making it the most dangerous place on earth for humanitarian volunteers.

In response to the crisis in Gaza, Veterans Rebuilding Life and Haya Washington joined forces to provide hundreds of orphaned children with food and water.

Veterans Rebuilding Life successfully raised $20,000 from donors across the United States wishing to support the mission collaboration. One hundred percent of the raised funds were used to deliver nutritious food, clean drinking water, and emergency medical supplies to hundreds of malnourished children living in displacement camps across Gaza.

VRL partnered with 3D Brooklyn, a locally owned, small business specializing in 3D printing technology. Using the design specifications provided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 3D Brooklyn developed and manufactured thousands of non-disposable, medical-grade face shields.
