Memorial Day Weekend

The Thousands of Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen from U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard ships arrived in Manhattan for the: 2017 Fleet Week New York. Annually hosted since 1984, Fleet Week New York is the City’s celebration of the U.S. Dept. of Defense’s amphibious military branches including the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard and Marines. The event provides an opportunity for the people of New York City and surrounding Tri-State area to meet the active military personnel who conduct amphibious operations in U.S. and foreign waters, and witnessing first-hand the latest defense capability of today’s Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Fleet Week includes dozens of military demonstrations and displays throughout the week.

This Memorial Day weekend, VRL was proud to attend the official promotion ceremony of VRL member: 1st Lieutenant Gerald Koval, at the official 9/11 Memorial Park, located in downtown Manhattan. LT. Koval, a native of Queens, NY joined the Marines after graduating from Fordham University in Manhattan, NY. LT.
