NYC Fleet Week Promotion Ceremony
SEPTEMBER 11TH MEMORIAL PARK | GROUND ZERO, NYC
The Thousands of Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen from U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard ships arrived in Manhattan for Fleet Week in New York City. Since 1984, Fleet Week New York is the City’s celebration of America’s amphibious military branches of service, including the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and Marines. The annual event provides an opportunity for the people of New York and surrounding Tristate area, to meet the young military personnel who conduct amphibious operations in both U.S. and foreign waters, witnessing first-hand the latest in defense capabilities of today’s Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard services. Fleet Week includes a variety of military demonstrations, and displays throughout the week.
On Memorial Day weekend, VRL was proud to attend the official promotion ceremony of VRL member: 1st Lieutenant Gerald Koval, at the official 9/11 Memorial Park, located in downtown Manhattan. LT. Koval, a native of Queens, New York, joined the Marines after graduating from Fordham University in Manhattan, NY. LT. Koval arrived on ship for fleet week and spent his time attending a variety of ceremonial events and interviews throughout the tristate area. U.S. Army Veteran Captain Marikay Satryano (seen above, far-left) was honored to participate in the official ceremony, announcing the formal call-to-order for the promotion of First Lieutenant Koval. Captain Satryano first met LT. Koval when he first joined Veterans Rebuilding Life, in the summer of 2015. LT. Koval’s military obligations included interviews with local news media outlets, including the syndicated latin news network in-need of a bilingual military representative to speak on behalf of Fleet-Week-New York:
